Connecting the Carlington Community Through the Arts
The Carlington Arts Initiative is Winding Down
Congratulations Linda Vanderlee, the coordinator of the Carlington Arts Initiative funded by KUC, has been recognized by the CBC as an Ottawa Trailblazer, in the first year of this award.
Linda was one of 300 nominees and was nominated by Cameron Ketchum of the Carlington community. Only 10 people were selected from the 300! The CBC produced short documentary clips about each of the recipients.
The 10 Trailblazers were featured on Ottawa Morning, All in a Day, CBC Ottawa News at 6, CBC Ottawa News at 11 and cbc.ca/ottawa. Here is the announcement.
The Carlington Arts Initiative is a project based in the Carlington neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario.
It exists to give a voice to individuals, to express pride in the Carlington community, and to embrace the arts as a joyful and healing force.
There are a number of different groups putting on different artistic activities and programs. We will try to keep track of them here on this site. So keep an eye on this site as things develop. Let's see more fun arts-based activities expand, building on what's already happening in the neighbourhood.

Do you have a creative itch that you'd like to scratch with your neighbours? Something new that you'd like to try or even something you'd like to show us how to do?
Flower arranging, improv, song circles, dance, painting, theatre, puppet making, writing group, sculpture, origami, slam poetry... the possibilities are endless!
Or perhaps you'd like to volunteer to help plan, run, or promote our activities (e.g., help with social media, make up program flyers, post them around the area...)?
Let's talk! email@example.com.
